A new advanced wireless demonstrator is online and ready to promote the art of the possible for farmers facing issues with poor connectivity.
Funded by the River Severn Partnership Advanced Wireless Innovation Region for Hartpury University and College in Gloucestershire, the unit will showcase show advanced wireless capabilities including LoRaWAN, Starlink and 5G can benefit the work of rural and farm businesses right now - regardless of how remote they are.
The facility, built by Jet Connectivity, will enable first-hand learning of how to create wider coverage and ultra-fast speeds to support advanced farming applications such as animal monitoring, crop sensing, and remote vehicle control, enhancing safety and efficiency.
It is operating through Hartpury’s Digital Innovation Farm, which provides access to the latest farming technologies and their supporting networks, to the agricultural sector across the UK and will be the centrepiece of their Farm Forward events.
Supported by the RSPAWIR, these six demo events offer stakeholders working in the land-based industries a hands-on opportunity to explore cutting-edge technologies that can transform rural industries. From improving farm efficiency to supporting sustainability, each event focus on the power of advanced wireless solutions.
Taking place at Hartpury University and College’s commercial farm near Gloucester, each demo event will give attendees the chance to see advanced wireless technologies being applied to networks, health and safety, soils and environment, remote communication and precision farming.
